The Greatest Commandment
Deuteronomy 6:4-5In the new testament Jesus said "and on these hang all of the law and the profits" right after He quoted this greatest commandment. Read the next few verses.
4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! 5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. We are commanded to teach the commandments of God to our children and talk of them always. I realize that Love can be measured - by the amount of time, thought, and even money you use in connection with that which you love. What are we loving today? what are we spending our time watching or reading? The TV, Harry Potter, or the Bible? Do we spend more money for the Lord's work or at the movie theatre and ball game?
Oh Lord Jesus, give me a heart for You and Your words. Help me to understand that Your words are my life. Amen.
Jesus, please forgive me and be my Lord, Amen.
